Evaluation of the adipogenic and lipogenic activities of Dracocephalum kotschyi extract (DKE) in 3T3-L1 cells. a and c cells were cultured for 48 h in DMI medium (high glucose DMEM containing 1 μM dexamethasone, 0.5 mM 3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine, and 1.5 μg/ml insulin) in the presence or absence of DKE. Then, the DMI medium was replaced with high glucose DMEM containing 10 μg/ml insulin and the differentiation efficiency was evaluated after 6 more days by Oil Red O staining and triglycerides content was determined using the relevant kit. b and d to investigate DKE’s lipogenic effect, 3T3-L1 cells were differentiated to adipocytes. Eight days after differentiation, cells were treated with 4 μl/ml DKE and/or 1 μM rosiglitazone for 48 h and compared with untreated cells. The data represent a prototype outcome of the control, DKE- and rosiglitazone-treated cells (n = 3)
